This wedding was one of my favorites. Me and my wife went to Shirley B.C. in September to shoot a wedding on the beach. Shirley is on Vancouver Island about 15 minutes past Sooke. The ceremony was at Fish Boat Bay and the reception at a little community hall up the street. I loved the small town feel of this whole day!!

I love architecture. I also love old things. I guess that’s why I love old buildings and bridges. Pretty simple I guess. I used to think that Vancouver’s history wasn’t too old until I found that we now know that aboriginals have been in North America for at least 15,000 years. Its hard to remember that when the oldest building in Vancouver was built in the mid 1800’s. For us that is very old. The Lions Gate Bridge was built in the late 1930’s. It was built by the Guiness family of Dublin Ireland. Yes, the beer family. Not sure if that is the reason for it being green but I’d like to think so. I have taken many photographs of this bridge in the last 5 years. Here are some of my favorites.

These are a couple of longer exposures of false creek from a couple of weeks ago. There are ferries going back and forth until late at night to get people across the inlet. Their lights can been sailing across the photos. The rocks were light painted with a flash light in the black and white photo. I’ve been wanting to get onto some rooftops in the city for some time.  After several failed attempts I went to the Woodwards building on Hastings that has an actual rooftop patio, I figured that would be easier.  The elevators are locked until someone in the building buzzes you in.  I hopped on an elevator to the 20th floor, then walked another 22 or so with about 40lbs of camera gear which was a workout!  Worth it in the end…
